Chapter 1: By Way of Introduction

In Chapter 1, you’ll learn how I started and grew a successful home care company with less than $20,000 and a dream despite having no industry experience prior. I also share my purpose for writing this book for you and give a brief overview of the topics covered in each chapter of the book.

Chapter 2: The Industry and Why It Matters to You

Chapter 2 features a broad look at the senior care industry, including the history, different trends affecting the industry, information about diseases that affect the elderly, a brief breakdown of how to care for these diseases, projected industry growth outlook, and more.

Chapter 3: Choosing a Business Model That Works for You

Chapter 3 highlights the different types of home care agencies and compares the pros and cons of each. Independently owned agencies require fewer startup costs but more planning and effort to grow. Franchises come with higher initial costs but an easier path to stability.

You’ll also learn the importance of branding, how your agency model can affect or limit your choices, and other foundational business topics specific to home care agencies.

Chapter 5: Marketing Is Not Just a Department, It’s Everything

In chapter 5, you’ll learn that marketing is not just about your website or social media posts. Every interaction a person has with your business is marketing – from phone calls to emails to your website. Chapter 6 takes a look at your home care agency’s flywheel model. Home care is a chicken-and-egg kind of business, featuring a balance between hiring and training caregivers and matching them with customers. Without customers, your caregivers leave. Without caregivers, you can’t take care of your customers. Learn how to energize your flywheel and keep the momentum going.
